WHAT WE BELIEVE

Why The Three Forms of Unity?

Click here for more discussion on the importance of confessions and the doctrine of the RCUS.

Our primary standard is the Word of God, the Bible.

We are a confessional church, which means that we use confessions as secondary standards for our beliefs. Our secondary standards are the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dort. These confessions are the Reformed church’s statements of defining beliefs and are subordinate to the Word of God.

Historically, Reformed churches have combined these and referred to them as the Three Forms of Unity.
